Bill Northey is a fourth generation farmer from Spirit Lake, Iowa who grows corn and soybeans. Northey returned to Spirit Lake to farm with his grandfather after graduating from Iowa State University in 1981. He is serving his first term as Secretary of Agriculture after being elected in November of 2006. His priorities as Secretary of Agriculture are advancing the opportunities available through renewable energy, promoting conservation and stewardship, and telling the story of Iowa agriculture. |
Dr. Elwynn Taylor has served as extension climatologist for the state of Iowa for the past 29 years. His familiar voice has provided weather forecasts and meteorology education statewide over the airwaves of WOI radio for many years. Using a combination of crop production and meteorology knowledge, Elwynn provides insight on the weather around us and how it will impact crop production in the future. Dr. Taylor is a graduate of Utah State University, where he received his B.S. in botany and of Washington University in St. Louis where he received his PhD in biology. |
