WELCOME to some of the finest parks, campgrounds, playgrounds and recreation facilities in Northwest Iowa.  Full service and primitive camping, several lakes with sand beaches, swimming, fishing, badminton, volleyball, horseshoes, hiking and biking trails all combine to provide you with a relaxing and fun getaway.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact

Parks are maintained by the O'Brien County Conservation Board and Staff .

IMPORTANT SEASONAL NOTE: The water and electricity is turned off in our county parks from September 30 until May 1st.  The parks are open for hiking and fishing, etc.  But the campgrounds and cabins are not open during the winter.  The cabins at Dog Creek have limited usage during the month of October and are officially closed October 31. (Hunter sometimes use the cabins but the only restroom facilities are a pit toilet and no water is available).  Please contact the individual cities for their policies on their city parks.

DOG CREEK PARK AND CAMPGROUNDS

Camping in Dog Creek Park, O'Brien County, Iowa Cost of camping - $10.00 - no reservations taken,
first come, first served.

Cabin rental: $40/night Fri & Sat
$35/night Sun - Thurs.  2 night minimum

Cabins sleep six and include electricity, heat/air conditioning, refrigerator, and microwave.  Showers located nearby.  Call 712-295-7200 to reserve. 

Park amenities:
swimming, fishing( largemouth bass, channel catfish, bluegill/sunfish, perch, crappie, bullhead), hiking, playground, boating (electric only), picnicking, toilets, picnic shelters, boat ramp.

Location - 3 miles southeast of Sutherland

 DOUMA PARK AND CAMPGROUNDS

Campground, Douma Park, O'Brien County, Iowa Cost of camping- $8.00Facility amenities: swimming, fishing (largemouth bass, bluegill/sunfish, channel catfish),  hiking, playground, boating (electric only), picnicking, toilets, picnic shelters

Location - 3351 Polk Avenue

2 miles west and 1 1/4 miles south of Sanborn

HANNIBAL WATERMAN WILDLIFE AND PRAIRIE PRESERVE

Memorial, overlook, Waterman wildlife area,  O'Brien County, Iowa Camping: Because this is a prairie preservation site, we cannot allow camping.

Facility amenities: hunting, fishing, hiking.

Location - 4 1/2 miles southeast and 1 mile north of Sutherland on Highway 10 and turning north onto Yellow Ave.

MILL CREEK LAKE, STATE PARK AND RECREATION AREA 

Boating in Mill Creek Park,  O'Brien County, Iowa Cost of camping - $15.00 - no reservations, first come first served.

Cabin rental: $40/night Fri & Sat

12 Person Cabin: Full kitchen and bathroom, sleeps 12 ; open year round for rental. $85/night Sun - Thur; $100/night Fri, Sat. Call 712-295-7200 to reserve.

Location: 1/2 mi east of Paullina on Highway 10, or 3 miles west of Hwy 59 and 10 junction
