New Calumet Firehouse/City Office/City Shed Nearing Completion

February 2, 2015

A new home for Calumet’s fire vehicles as well as offices for the fire department and the city clerk are almost completed. The new facility is 66 by 72 feet and is a heated building with two large overhead doors where the trucks will be stored two in each bay. There is also room for the city snowplow, which can now be stored inside a heated building for the first time in Calumet history.

When completed, the Calumet Fire Department is planning to host a big pancake meal as a fundraiser. The public will have the opportunity to tour the new facility and will also have the chance to donate funds needed to finance the last portion of the new Fire Station.

In the meantime, donations can be sent in care of the City of Calumet at P.O. Box 131, Calumet, IA 51009. More information may be obtained by calling the City Clerk, Norma Rath, at 712-446-2411.
