Child Care Consultant for Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, O’Brien, Osceola Counties

  •     40 hours per week.
  •     Eligible for benefits, including IPERS.  Telecommute position.
  •     A Bachelor’s Degree is required in Early Childhood, Elementary Education with Early Child Endorsement, or Child and Family Services.  
  •     Responsibilities include providing on-site consultation to non-registered Child Care Homes, Child Care Development Homes, Licensed Child Care Centers and Preschools. Travel is required.  Reliable transportation, proof of insurance and a valid driver’s license required

  •     Be able to lift up to 40 pounds, crawl on the floor and occasionally stand 4 hours at a time.

Duties:
  •     Provide on-site consultation, evidence-based coaching and technical assistance to non-registered Child Care Homes, Child Care Development Homes,  Licensed Child Care Centers and Preschools.
  •     Promote the use of inclusive and culturally-appropriate child care policies and services.
  •     Meet CCR&R regional expectations and performance measures.
  •     Knowledge of DHS rules and regulations for Child Care Development Homes and Licensed Child Care Centers and Preschools; and assist with Registration of Child Development Homes.
  •     Assist child care businesses with Child Development Home, Child Care Assistance and Quality Rating System (QRS) applications and submitted to the regional office with 100% accuracy.
  •     Report allegations of child care abuse, child neglect  and non-compliance to DHS.
  •     Report non-compliance with child care regulations to the Iowa Child Care Complaint Hotline.
  •     Recruit new child care businesses throughout service area.
  •     Responsible for increasing provider participation in quality initiatives in assigned service area including: Preservice/Orientation, ChildNet Certification, Quality Rating System (QRS), Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS),  Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), Nutrition and Physical Activity Self-Assessment for Child Care (NAP SACC), Iowa Program for Infant and Toddler (PITC), Environment Rating Scales (ERS), National Accreditation, peer support groups and other quality initiatives.
  •     Provide group training  based on approved curriculum if required. Meet level II instructor qualifications as outlined in the Iowa CCR&R Network Training Policies and Procedures Handbook. 
  •     Provide evidence-based coaching that aligns with series training curricula.
  •     Complete provider records and submit data for reports on a timely basis utilizing required data collection methods.
  •     Communicate with child care providers and adjust technical assistance to their needs, knowledge and capability.
  •     Communicate and collaborate with the Department of Human Services and community partners.
  •     Assist Child Care Consultants in other service areas as needed.
  •     Achieve I-Consult Credential.
  •     Provide leadership as assigned in assigned area of expertise: Infant Toddler, Business Development, CDA Professional Development; Culture and Linguistic, Development Assessments, Early Childhood-Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (EC-PBIS), Emergency Preparedness, Environmental Rating Scales (ERS), and Fingerprinting.
  •     Attend mandatory trainings as requested.
  •     Attend agency and community meetings as requested.
  •     Promote CCR&R services to parents, providers, legislators and community partners.
  •     Provide or participate in presentations and/or fairs to educate community leaders/organizations on CCR&R services and child care issues targeting families and child care providers.
  •     Other duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood, Elementary Education with Early Childhood Endorsement, or Child and Family Services.
