O'Brien County Tourism

O'Brien County Tourism

by Sandra Rehder

O'Brien County Tourism (OBCT) is celebrating five years since coming together to promote tourism in O'Brien County. The O'Brien County Tourism Road Show was thought of as a way to thank each community and its volunteers, traveling to each town to do so.

Charlene Elyea and Kianna Johnson attended a Chamber meeting in Primghar to talk about the success of OBCT since it's beginning. The two showcased achievements and future plans. OBCT has had thus far: brochures that tell of the many sights to be seen in NW Iowa's "less traveled roads" and three very successful bus tours. By going to the Chamber meetings and showcasing their thoughts and ideas, they hope for more community involvement.

Four awards were given to the community and its volunteers. Clara Black was given a small door with the words-you saw the possibilities and opened the "door". Heritage Park (saw), accepted by Myrna Heimensen on behalf of all volunteers with the words - You "saw" our need and helped to make the Christmas bus tour a big success. Thank You! Marlene Anderson (picture frame)- We can't "picture" moving forward without you. Sandie Rehder (hinges)-Our future success "hinges" on volunteers like you.

Writers note- If you can talk, you can sing, If you can walk, you can dance.

If you live in Primgahr or O'Brien County, we would love to have you be a volunteer.
