Added as an Aside: "In 1995 the Sutherland Recreation Corporation developed a plan to save the now 90 year old school building. At that time the building became known as the Willoway Complex (Where there's a will there's a way). In 2000 the first senior independent apartments were completed. In 2011 the last stage was completed by remodeling the second floor into senior independent apartments. The Willoway Heights Second Floor Grand Opening will be held Saturday, December 10th from 1 – 3 p.m. and Sunday, December 11th also from 1 – 3 p.m.” 


Willoway Heights, L.L.C. to Provide Nine Additional Independent Living Apartments in Sutherland for Seniors


Primghar, Iowa, August 16, 2011 –Willoway Heights, L.L.C has begun the process of converting the second floor of the Willoway Complex into nine new one bedroom senior apartments. There will be two fully handicap accessible apartments and nine of the 17 apartments located on the second and third floors will be income and rent restricted. Also included in this renovation project will be a new library and hair salon as well as some building updates.


O'Brien County Economic Development, in conjunction with the O'Brien County Revolving Loan Fund Committee, has approved financing for this senior housing project. The Revolving Loan Fund is used to attract, retain or expand business or industry. Revolving loan funds may be used for the following: Land purchases, Building purchases, Building Construction, Machinery purchases, Equipment purchases and any other uses deemed appropriate by the RLF Committee.
